Who we are

Callan Park Dog Lovers is an active group of dog owners and dog walkers who enjoy exercising our dogs in Callan Park, NSW. We started life as a Facebook group - we now have 2,000 members. In 2020, we campaigned to ensure we had over twenty hectares of this natural green park as off-leash, and we won. The rights of dog owners to use Callan Park both off leash and on leash are enshrined in the Companion Animal Management Plan 2022.

Callan Park is a heritage park with diverse wildlife and mature trees and is a unique natural environment in which to escape the stress of city life. It has always been a shared space, including the five sports fields which are currently natural grass - dog owners can enjoy this level surface to walk dogs when sport is not being played. Sadly, Our access to the shared sports fields is threatened by a proposal for two synthetic sports grounds. Dogs will not be allowed on synthetic turf, nor will any other park users. If you would like to find out more about this, please use the contact form, below.
